At Hendriks, the role of our wait staff is critical. They are the first people that our customers see when they join us, so the impression they create at the beginning, during and at the end of the Hendriks experience is crucial.
The wait staff will be responsible for the tasks such as taking orders, recommending food and wine based on guests' tastes and preferences, delivering food to the tables promptly, accepting payments, and ultimately ensuring an outstanding guest experience is had at all times.
The wait staff need to be vigilant and always looking for tasks that they can do to enhance the guests' experience and the reputation of the bar.
**Bar Wait Staff Job Description**
At Hendriks, our staff will all be friendly and professional. The main goal in this position should be to ensure the highest level of customers' satisfaction, and provide an outstanding customer experience.
**Bar Wait Staff Duties and Responsibilities**
- Welcome customers at the door and guide them to their tables
- Introduce our menus and describe the various food options and drinks. Let people know that we specialise in giant jaffles and cognac, and that you can guide them through the selection process
- Make recommendations
- Take orders promptly - you should always be monitoring the space and not leave the customers trying to get your attention, to order
- Deliver orders to the table in a timely manner. If there is an issue or a delay, let the customer know
- Adhere to food, sanitary and safety standards, as well as all COVID-19 Safety Protocols
- Inspect the quality and presentation of all food and drinks, making sure they uphold standards. Sloppy or burnt food, or spilt drinks are big NO NO's
- Identify and resolve any special requirements, wants and needs of customers. Take dietary requirements very seriously and add into the notes when taking the order
- Handle complaints politely and effectively. Make the Manager aware of all of these, as they will be reviewed with the team at the end of the day
- Deliver customer bills and accept payment
- Collaborate closely with other staff members, to ensure all jobs are being completed
- Always look busy and be watching the floor for where your attention is needed
Wait Staff Requirements and Qualifications
- 1 year minimum of experience as a wait staff or similar role
- Knowledge of cash payments and processing credit card payments
- Customer oriented approach
- Critical thinker with good problem-solving skills
- Team player
- Good time-management skills
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Great presentation and personal hygiene
- Punctual and reliable

**Salary**: $45,000.00 - $74,614.00 per year
