Offer description

MW EA Level 6.1 + Flexible Working Arrangements

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne's water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a backyard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we're there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world's cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what's right, you're in the right place.

About The Role

Reporting to the Manager of Strategic Sewerage Planning, this is an exciting full-time, 9-month fixed-term role based within the Service Strategy, One Water team. This role will lead sewage quality management planning activities supporting the Integrated Sewage Quality Management System (ISQMS). The role will contribute to Sewerage Adaptive Plans, ensure long-term regulatory compliance (including capacity planning and demand management), and drive sewerage strategic and policy initiatives for Melbourne Water.

This will be achieved through:

* Leading the development of sewage flow and load forecasts for a growing Melbourne.
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including Retail Water Companies, regarding the ISQMS.
* Supporting sewage quality planning within the team and contributing to managing sewage quality risks and compliance with General Environmental Duty.
* Managing investigations or assignments undertaken by external service providers to support the ISQMS program and Sewerage Adaptive Plans.
* Influencing sewerage strategy execution pathways and service planning.
* Implementing and maintaining procedures, policies, systems, and processes to protect workers, assets, public health, the environment, and products.

About You

* Understanding of risk and quality management principles; experience with sewage quality management is advantageous.
* Knowledge of ISO 22000, HACCP, and quality management systems.
* Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Strategic planning skills with a holistic, systems-thinking approach.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with high-level verbal and written communication skills, especially in sensitive or complex situations.
* Tertiary qualification in environmental, chemical, or process engineering, or science, with direct experience in the water industry (advantageous).
