Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Health, Safety, and Workplace Advisor for our primary processing operation located in Thomastown, Melbourne. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be an integral member of the broader health and safety team, collaborating closely with senior management on-site. This is a key role that will focus on promoting and maintaining a culture of safety and compliance across the facility, ensuring that all health and safety legislative requirements are met while fostering a safe work environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) policies and programs.
Deliver safety training to employees and contractors.
Conduct site inspections and risk assessments.
Facilitate and promote hazard prevention programs.
Investigate safety incidents and maintain documentation in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, safety concerns, and follow-up actions.
Provide guidance and support to management and employees on safety practices and procedures.
Lead safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
Implement strategies to minimise workplace injuries and maintain a strong safety culture.
Advise on emergency procedures and ensure preparedness across the site.
Be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, for reporting and documentation.
Key Requirements:
2-3 years of experience in a Safety Advisor role, ideally within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector.
Relevant qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety.
Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks in a timely manner.
Strong communication skills and a proven ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience in driving change management and continuous improvement within safety practices.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
