About the Role:
As one of our seasonal Veterinarians, you will play a vital role in managing the reproductive health of large thoroughbred broodmare farms, working closely with our experienced team of vets, including 2 board certified surgeons, focusing on all aspects of stud medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
* Primary Veterinary Management of large broodmare farms. Working closely with clients to develop and implement breeding programs.
* Conduct reproductive evaluations (ultrasound exams, diagnostic tests, etc.) to manage breeding and reproductive cycles for mares.
* Provide expert advice on breeding management.
* May include some artificial insemination and embryo transfer.
* Assist with foaling and post-foaling care for mares and foals.
* Participate in the clinic's on call roster for emergency and routine care.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree in Veterinary Science/Medicine, with full qualification eligible to practice in Queensland, Australia.
* At least 5 seasons of experience in equine reproduction, with expertise in thoroughbred mare breeding, foetal twin reduction, placental scanning/monitoring, etc.
* Valid driver's license.
* Strong independent work ethic with good time management skills.
* A strong passion for stud medicine and thoroughbred racing is preferred.
* A client focused approach with excellent communication skills.
* Passion for equine reproduction and high standard veterinary care.
