The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Engineering Department.
This role is ideal for a technically capable and hands-on engineer with experience planning and designing civil maintenance and project works, and managing tasks from initial scope through to completion and close-out.
You will contribute across a broad range of works — from minor site improvements to involvement in major projects — while coordinating contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* In consultation with consultants and internal customers, develop proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, construction plans and drawings for plant modifications and new projects
* Develop tender documentation and work in conjunction with the Procurement team to manage the tendering process for new civil project works
* Plan and coordinate civil maintenance works including raising and closing work orders, developing scopes of work, cost estimates and timelines
* Provide engineering, design and technical advice as required
* Maintain plant infrastructure, roads, and civil and structural facilities to a standard of maximum efficiency
* Supervise site project works with emphasis on safety, compliance to site procedures, quality, cost control and accuracy
* Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Superintendent on site activities, job progress, cost variances and emerging issues
* Coordinate with government departments to obtain permits for new works and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
* Issue excavation permits
* Promote a safe working environment, investigate incidents and complete corrective actions within agreed timeframes
* Promote a positive company image among consultants, contractors and the local community
About You
You will bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
* Minimum three years’ post-graduate experience
* Eligibility to obtain RPEQ status or ability to attain RPEQ shortly after commencement
* Experience within a refinery or processing plant (desirable)
* Ability to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Word)
* Proficiency in the use of a CMMS (JD Edwards experience highly regarded)
