Overview
Join our team as a Process Technician at a Tier 1 mining company's aluminium smelter in Gladstone. This hands-on role supports daily operations on the Reduction Lines by performing manual, high‐risk tasks, ensuring safety, efficiency, and continuous production in a high‐energy, fast‐paced industrial setting.
Responsibilities
* Support daily operations on the Reduction Lines by performing manual, high‐risk tasks.
* Ensure safety, efficiency, and continuous production through adherence to processes and standards.
* Communicate effectively with team members via radio to coordinate activities.
Required Skills
* Strong manual handling skills and physical fitness
* Ability to work in hot, dusty, and high‐risk environments
* Good situational awareness and hazard recognition
* Ability to follow detailed processes, SWI/SOPs, and communicate via radio
* Willingness to work 12‐hour shifts on day and night rosters
* Full PPE compliance: long sleeves, heat‐resistant gear, respirator, gloves, etc.
Nice‐to‐have Skills
* Exposure to industrial environments such as smelting, mining, or manufacturing
* Prior shift work experience
* Strong work ethic and reliable attendance
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous experience in heavy industry, trade assistance, labouring, or production roles
* Manual handling capability with a focus on repetitive, physically demanding tasks
* Ability to pass a medical (Medipass), including Spirometry and D&A Testing
* Ability to work in a respirator and around magnetic fields
Other Requirements
* Must reside locally in Gladstone, Tannum Sands, or Miriam Vale
* Prepared for high physical demand: lifting up to 25kg, pushing wheelbarrows, raking, and manual skimming
* Willing to work in a high‐temperature, dust‐filled environment with molten metal and moving machinery
