We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Hunter Class line of business based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard, reporting to the Lead Outfit Engineer.

The role will involve supporting the design, changes to the design and integration of mechanical equipment for the Hunter Class Frigate Program. This includes working collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that align with project objectives.


Key Responsibilities

* Apply knowledge of company products, services, and mechanical engineering principles to resolve engineering problems while adhering to established processes and governance.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical solutions, including conducting analyses and supporting manufacturing, integration, and validation activities.
* Assist in the preparation and review of detailed designs for mechanical equipment to meet architectural requirements and project needs.
* Provide evidence for fitness for purpose, regulatory compliance, safety, and quality assurance, ensuring robust documentation supports the design's adequacy.
* Identify and resolve technical issues throughout the product lifecycle and manage associated change embodiment activities.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are supported and appropriately incorporated.
* Provide realistic programme status updates, identify issues, and implement recovery plans to meet project objectives.
* Liaise with suppliers based around the world on the technical aspects of owned procurement packages.
* Conduct mechanical system design and integration, including the translation of customer requirements into functionally compliant designs.


About You

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Aeronautical Engineering.
* Eligible for membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia (IEAust).
* Proven experience working as a professional engineer.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to project personnel.
* Ability to work confidently and collaboratively within a project team environment.
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to completing assigned tasks.
