About the WA Country Health Service – Kimberley Ambulance Service
The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) operates the Kimberley Ambulance Service (KAS) — delivering 24-hour, road-based ambulance coverage across Derby, Fitzroy Crossing, Halls Creek, and surrounding remote communities. Covering over 300,000 square kilometres, our service responds to around 5,000 calls for assistance each year, including:
* Injuries, poisonings, and toxic effects (including alcohol-related)
* Respiratory and circulatory emergencies, particularly cardiac-related chest pain
* Trauma incidents from vehicle accidents, violence, and sports
* Non-specific acute illnesses such as fever and abdominal pain
In addition to emergency 000 callouts and inter-hospital transfers, our Paramedics work within hospital Emergency Departments and inpatient wards — offering a unique hybrid role that combines pre-hospital and in-hospital care in a truly diverse clinical environment.
