Job Description
As Canva scales, this role focuses on driving large‐scale programs across two critical platform groups – User Platform and API Platform. The Technical Program Manager leads complex, multi‐disciplinary initiatives, coordinating cross‐team efforts, managing dependencies, and ensuring delivery excellence while fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe environment.
Responsibilities
* Work with Group Leads for API Platform and User Platform to shape and drive large‐scale company goals.
* Drive end‐to‐end delivery of complex programs, coordinating efforts across multiple teams and groups.
* Monitor and track delivery status across teams and goals, ensuring visibility and promoting accountability.
* Assess and manage program risks, helping teams build confidence to deliver through them.
* Manage dependencies across teams and groups, flagging blockers early and driving resolution.
* Support engineering leads in maintaining strong delivery practices such as milestone shaping, capacity planning, and prioritization.
* Ensure an appropriate degree of consistency in planning, documentation, and delivery practices across User Platform and API Platform.
* Build partnerships with cross‐functional teams to influence decisions and drive alignment.
* Build a culture and environment to achieve excellence and innovation.
* Facilitate timely, transparent decision‐making practices across the groups and programs.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Technical Program Manager at a SaaS company, driving large programs of work.
* Experience in platform engineering domains – especially API infrastructure, traffic management, and identity/permissions systems.
* Deep familiarity with Agile product development methodologies and technical fluency to participate meaningfully in engineering discussions.
* Experience driving cross‐cutting programs that span many teams and groups.
* Natural communicator who leads through influence, navigating complexity and tackling ambiguous problems.
* Experience working with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to deliver key company initiatives.
* Comfortable with ambiguity in a fast‐paced environment with shifting priorities.
* Process‐oriented but flexible in approach.
* Motivated to provide an inclusive and psychologically safe environment for our diverse team.
* Dedicated to personal growth and improving in TPM craft.
* Demonstrated leadership capability to think strategically, ensuring clarity and alignment, and promoting accountability to achieve big goals.

Product Platform's mission is to build pathways that empower Canva to deliver a delightful experience for billions of users. The team rides across Product Insights Enablement, Client Platform, User Platform, and API Platform.
This role sits across User Platform – responsible for building core user identity and permissions at scale – and API Platform – focused on a secure, unified traffic and API layer that supports seamless, reliable, resilient connectivity.
