About the Program

Moneycare Program is part of the Community Support Service network, aiming to alleviate financial hardship by supporting individuals facing financial difficulties or crises, helping them become more independent and self-sufficient.


Primary Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and values-driven Financial Capability Worker, who will work under the mentorship of the Financial Counsellor to deliver services that help eligible individuals build long-term financial planning and decision-making skills. The role involves delivering non-accredited financial education workshops and supporting employment readiness by enhancing financial knowledge, skills, and capabilities.


Typical Daily Activities

* Deliver financial education workshops focused on building long-term financial capability
* Assist community members in accessing support services and establishing community supports
* Focus on individual needs, building strong relationships, and supporting independence without judgment
* Work collaboratively with community members to provide quality service
* Maintain accurate records and data according to The Salvation Army standards
* Include community feedback for continuous quality improvement


Qualifications and Skills

* Financial Literacy Education skill set or willingness to obtain it
* Experience working with non-English speakers
* Knowledge of local Aboriginal Communities, Culture, and connections
* Ability to work with individuals facing difficulties and crises
* Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity (mandatory)
* National police record check
* Relevant state Working With Children Check
* Current Driver’s license (if travel required)
* Some intrastate travel may be required

This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, as it is considered a genuine occupational requirement under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1992 s.35(b) (NT).
