Talent International are currently recruiting for a APS6 level Freedom of Information Delegate join our Federal Government client based in Geelong.
12-month Labour Hire contract with the potential to extend, paying an hourly rate of $60.26 plus Superannuation.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
* Being a key FOI delegate responsible for FOI internal reviews and IC reviews, processing complex and sensitive FOI matters, ensuring they are created, processed, recorded and closed correctly on all databases in accordance with the FOI Act.
* Reviewing, amending or developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies, template documents and other governance documents to assist with consistent decision making within the team in consultation with other FOI and PIA delegates.
* Coordinating and providing training in FOI and PIA within the team as well as providing outreach and training within the NDIA to increase business area understanding about their responsibilities in relation to the processing of FOIs and PIAs.
* Preparing and contributing to a range of other material including briefing material for Ministers, Board papers, media releases, reports to Parliamentary committees, and correspondence.
* Supporting the development of systems, processes and practical tools including delivering training to support FOI and PIA handling and awareness.
* Assisting with allocations and triage and making PIA decisions as a PIA delegate where required.
Requirements
* Demonstrated ability to make decisions under Freedom of Information legislation in relation to requests for access to documents.
Proven experience managing demanding and changing workloads and competing priorities.
* Highly developed communication (written and verbal) skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Have a keen eye for detail, with a high degree of self-motivation to prioritise and complete tasks within specified timeframes
* Thrive in a busy workplace with multiple competing priorities and deadlines
* Exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
Successful applicants will require Australian Citizenship, and ability to clear federal background and police checks.
