The Role
In this role, you will provide high-quality legal advice and support to clients across the department, particularly in the development, implementation, and administration of government policies and programs relating to Skills.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide statutory interpretation advice on legislation.
- Advise on legal risks associated with program design.
- Provide advice on administrative decision-making.
- Draft legislative and non-legislative instruments.
- Advise on and manage debt recovery and litigation matters.
- Assist with legislative development, including instructing the Office of Parliamentary Counsel.
- Support clients in preparing briefs to the Executive and Ministers.
- Comply with obligations under relevant Commonwealth legislation and policies.
Qualifications and Education
- A degree in laws from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification.
- Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
