An established Australian organisation delivering employment and environmental services is seeking a commercially astute and strategically minded General Manager to lead the expansion of its environmental services portfolio.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the CEO and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team, you will provide strategic, operational and commercial leadership across the environmental services portfolio.
With strong operational foundations in place, the Board has committed to scaling this portfolio from small to mid-scale project delivery into larger, programmatic environmental initiatives — including participation in carbon and other more emerging environmental markets.
This is a transformation and growth role.
The Role
You will:
* Develop and execute a clear growth and business development strategy
* Secure large scale contracts and long-term programmatic funding
* Build high-value partnerships across government, industry and environmental market participants
* Position the organisation within carbon and other environmental markets
* Establish scalable pricing, delivery and performance frameworks
* Strengthen commercial discipline, financial performance and risk management
* Lead organisational and cultural evolution aligned to growth
* Ensure safe, compliant and high-quality operational delivery through your leadership team
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the long-term direction and market positioning of the environmental services portfolio.
About You
You are a strategic and commercially capable leader with a strong track record in environmental services or related industries, and the ability to scale operations in complex and evolving markets.
You will demonstrate:
* Extensive senior leadership experience in environmental services, ecological restoration, sustainability or a related sector
* Proven success managing complex operations and significant budgets, with accountability for financial performance, risk, compliance and WHS outcomes
* A track record of growing portfolios, securing major contracts or funding, and scaling services and capability to support sustained growth
* Strong commercial and financial acumen, including pricing, contract negotiation and risk management
* Proven ability to lead dispersed teams, build capability and foster a high-performance, values-aligned culture, with a collaborative leadership style grounded in self-awareness, integrity and ethical practice
* Experience driving continuous improvement, service innovation and scalable delivery models
* Exceptional stakeholder engagement, partnership development and communication skills
* A demonstrated commitment to improving environmental outcomes and supporting communities
* Pragmatic, forward-thinking and motivated by building both impact and commercial resilience
* Highly Desirable (but not essential): Knowledge of Australian environmental legislation and/or experience engaging with environmental markets (e.g. carbon, biodiversity, natural capital or sustainability frameworks)
You will also have:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Ecological Restoration, Business Management or a related field (preferred)
* The ability to travel as required
* A current driver's licence and the right to work in Australia
* The ability to obtain Criminal History check and Blue Card - Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check
