The opportunity we have available

The Communication Branch provides high quality advice and support through a range of enabling services, including internal communication services, speechwriting services, strategic communication services, media liaison, social media engagement, intranet content design and advice, advertising campaigns and design and digital production services.

The position is within the Internal Communication section who deliver high-quality advice and services to support our business areas to meet their internal communication needs. The position is working in the Intranet team and reports to the EL1 Intranet Content Designer and Strategist.

What will you do?

The position duties include (but are not limited to):

* Create, edit, maintain and publish intranet content on the department's intranet (CONNECT).
* Manage and respond to CONNECT Editing service requests in the department's IT portal (My Services Portal) daily.
* Maintain and provide intranet content advice that reflects the intranet content strategy, communication standards, governance, content editor standards and our Accessibility toolkit guidelines.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, Digital Workplace Services (DWS) support team and IT staff to ensure content requests meet the business needs and provides a consistent user experience.
* Administer content editor training on Learnhub, including creation of training sessions, participant enrolments, attendances and updates.
* Regularly engage with content editors to keep them informed of updates and changes via the content editor communication channel (currently Webex group and will move to Teams).
* Administer and maintain regular content review, feedback and governance processes.
* Maintain intranet content editor list, guides and instructions for all content editors.
* Assist to update the department's approved Word and PowerPoint templates.
* Other duties as required by the EL1 supervisor and EL2 Director.

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate your capability against the APS 6 Work level standards, as well as the following requirements of the role:

* Demonstrated ability and experience in structuring, writing and editing digital content in plain English in accordance with the Australian Government Style Manual (Style Manual).
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in intranet content management, including working with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
* Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines, problem solve and take initiative.
* Demonstrated ability to administer training.
* Knowledge and experience in use of Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) templates and styles.
* Demonstrated experience in using SharePoint, IT service management, learning management and eLearn software.

Eligibility requirements

Employment with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:

* Citizenship: candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of submitting your application
* Health Assessment: The preferred applicant may be required to undergo a medical examination conducted by the department's preferred medical provider.
* Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to obtain and/or maintain a security clearance at Baseline Level. You must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information. You must have lived in Australia, or have a checkable background, for at least the preceding five years for Baseline Vetting clearances. A selection panel will be established to assess your suitability against the advertised role.
