Mount Barker District Council is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Team Member to support operations at the Waste Transfer Station.
About the Role
This position supports the effective operation, maintenance and customer service delivery of Council’s Waste Transfer Station. The role involves assisting customers with correct waste and recycling disposal, assessing waste loads and processing payments, and helping maximise resource recovery.
You will support daily site operations including plant and equipment operation (backhoe/loader), collection of recyclable materials, general labouring duties (cleaning, litter control, vegetation management), and maintaining safe public access to the site.
About You
You will demonstrate:
* Strong customer service skills
* Commitment to safe work practices
* Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods
* Basic ICT and computer skills (Microsoft Office, weighbridge systems)
* Knowledge of waste, recycling and sustainability principles
Essential Requirements
· Demonstrated experience in customer service or related local government or waste management setting
· Demonstrated experience in the use of computer systems such as Microsoft Office and weigh bridge systems
* Forklift and loader/backhoe licence (or willingness to obtain)
* Minimum C class (car) licence
Additional Information
* Weekend work required (Tuesday–Sunday operations) - Rostered
* Some after-hours and emergency response work may be required
* May be required to work across Operations teams
