Director, Energy Transition and Industry Competitiveness * Play a critical role in shaping and guiding the Department's contribution to Victoria's energy transition and clean-economy agenda * Utilise expert thought leadership, strategic influence and coordination skills to drive enhanced outcomes where economic development priorities intersect with energy and climate policy * Senior Executive Service Level 1 (SES-1), fixed term up to three (3) years The Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) is seeking to appoint an experienced leader who is looking for their next challenge and brings knowledge about both Victoria's energy transition and climate action agenda, and Victoria's economic development processes and priorities. You will be motivated by the opportunity to play a critical role in shaping and guiding the Department's contribution to Victoria's energy transition and clean-economy agenda. This includes marshalling DJSIR portfolio levers to support acceleration of new energy supply, build industry competitiveness and resilience, by assisting Victoria's industrial base to manage energy price uncertainty and maximise economic growth opportunities from the global investment in renewable energy and climate action. Reporting to the Executive Director - Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent, this role requires the ability to operate across the department, in close collaboration with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), and in partnership with key external stakeholders, utilising expert thought leadership, strategic influence and coordination skills to drive enhanced outcomes in areas where the department's economic development priorities intersect with energy and climate policy. You will be joining the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent Branch, which is responsible for shaping and ensuring the delivery of the Victorian Government's industry development agenda. The branch develops policies and delivers programs that drive sustainable economic growth and workforce inclusion, leading to higher living standards for all Victorians. The successful candidate will: * Demonstrated experience working in government, including leading and delivering strategic initiatives, programs, advisory and policy services, with a high understanding of the Victorian Government's priorities and objectives for economic growth and industry policy. * Proven capacity to provide authoritative, evidence-based advice to Ministers, senior executives and external stakeholders, including on energy transition, clean economy and related industry policy matters. * Highly developed stakeholder relationship skills at a senior level, including the ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders and the ability to negotiate, influence and build consensus across senior levels of government, interest groups and the public and private sectors. * Deep understanding of the energy transition, climate action and clean economy landscape as it relates to whole of economy industry development objectives, including awareness of government commitments and policies, key trends, investment drivers, regulatory arrangements and market mechanisms influencing economic outcomes.
