About the role The physician in this position will provide specialist respiratory and sleep medicine services to patients across Central Queensland, Norfolk Island, and other regional and rural partners of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH).
Service delivery will include a mix of telehealth and periodic on-site clinics, supported by collaboration with local teams to strengthen access and continuity of care.
Participation in after-hours on-call duties for both RBWH and regional partner sites may be required, shared equitably among consultant staff on a rotating basis.
The role also entails active participation in the department's education, teaching, and research programs, with encouragement to develop expertise in a subspecialty area.
In addition, the position contributes to ongoing business improvement and clinical governance initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
About you Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values: Provide exemplary clinical care across inpatient, outpatient, and consultative thoracic medicine services, including participation in after-hours on-call rosters.
Apply specialist expertise in regional service delivery through telehealth and outreach models that improve access for patients in regional and rural Queensland.
Contribute to the development and improvement of respiratory and sleep medicine services to ensure safe, efficient, and equitable patient care.
Lead clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient safety and operational performance.
