About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity arising from internal career progression for an experienced Superintendent Survey to lead the Survey function at our Mungari Operations.
This is a senior leadership role with accountability for all underground, open pit and surface survey activities, ensuring delivery in line with statutory and operational requirements. Leading a team of approximately 15 survey professionals, the Superintendent Survey plays a critical role in enabling safe, efficient, and compliant mining through the provision of accurate spatial control, data management and production support.
The role has become available due to a planned internal movement, with the current Superintendent transitioning into another role within Mungari as part of a supported career change. This provides strong continuity and handover, with ongoing access to deep site knowledge and support.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading, coaching and mentoring the Survey team to build capability and support Authorised Mine Surveyor development.
* Acting as the site Authorised Mine Surveyor (Grade 1), ensuring compliance with WHS legislation, regulations and professional standards.
* Overseeing survey delivery across underground and open pit operations, including set out, pickups, CMS and spatial control.
* Governing survey systems, standards and spatial data management, including documentation and version control.
* Supporting projects, exploration and infrastructure through early‐stage surveys and control establishment.
* Driving the adoption of new and emerging survey technologies.
This role is offered on a 4:3 roster (12‐hour days), FIFO from Perth or based residentially in Kalgoorlie (relocation support provided within Australia).
About You
You are an experienced and capable survey leader with a strong safety mindset and a proven ability to lead teams across underground and open pit mining environments. You are collaborative, practical and confident in balancing statutory accountability with operational delivery.
You communicate effectively, build strong relationships across disciplines and value knowledge sharing and continuity. You take pride in developing people, improving systems and applying innovation to lift performance.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated leadership experience managing mine survey teams.
* Experience of having led teams with more than five surveyors will be highly regarded.
* At least 10 years' surveying experience, with a minimum of 5 years mining including underground and open pit operations.
* Experience dealing with the Department of Mines in terms of survey, including submission of mine plans for mine suspension and/or mine closure.
* A tertiary qualification in Surveying (Degree or Advanced Diploma).
* WA Authorised Mine Surveyor – Grade 1.
* Strong knowledge of the WHS Act 2020 and WHS (Mines) Regulations 2022.
* Experience with modern survey software and technologies, including Deswik (or similar), CMS, drones and photogrammetry tools.
* A continuous improvement mindset with an interest in new technologies and best practice.
