To lead and implement Council's Natural Area Operations Programs through the delivery of a
range of environmental works from bush regeneration, creek line restoration, degraded land
rehabilitation, weed control and visitor infrastructure maintenance.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
1. Deliver Council's natural area programs, including planning and implementation of a
significant internal and external works program, resource co-ordination, staff and
contractor supervision, budget management, and monitoring. Principles programs
include:
- Urban Weeds;
- Bush Regeneration;
- Creekline Restoration;
- Degraded Lands; and
- Community Conservation (Bushcare/Landcare)
- Visitor Infrastructure (walking tracks/lookouts)
2. Develop and utilise project management systems and processes to procure and contract
external service providers, supervise internal/external contractors, and to monitor and
evaluate delivery in order to ensure best value and a consistently high quality of outcome.
3. Plan and implement authorised surveillance programs for law enforcement and crime
prevention purposes.
4. Administer and acquit external funding that contributes to environmental outcomes on
public and private lands.
5. Prepare a range of internal documents, including business and delivery plans, quarterly
and annual reporting against milestones and budgets, compliance and communication
plans, as well as external documentation to customers, government agencies,
committees and other forums.
6. Prepare or contribute to the development of strategic or statutory documentation,
including Asset Management Plans, Plans of Management, Policy, Procedure and Safe
Work Method Statements.
7. Contribute to, or lead emergency response or recovery initiatives implemented by
Council.
8. Contribute to the management and delivery of the Community Conservation Program,
which includes Bushcare, Landcare and Trackcare.
9. Provide exceptional customer service, including responding quickly to customer inquiries
and public complaints providing the required service in a timely manner and against
service standards.
10. Actively communicate to internal and external audiences, matters such as risks, program
outcomes and significant achievements using a variety of communication methods.
11. Provide high level, multi-skilled, specialist expertise and advice across a range of
environmental and regulatory issues.
12. Provide Leadership to effectively manage day-to-day operation, improve performance
and ensure ongoing career development of the Team and individuals.
13. Develop and deliver internal and external training programs and assist other staff to
undertake activities in natural areas or other works that deliver environmental outcomes.
14. Builds key strategic relationships with external stakeholders to ensure services and
targets are informed by and meet changing community and inter-agency priorities in
order to maximise alignment, co-operation and external contributions.
15. Represent Council or the Branch internally or externally as required, including
participation at key strategic committees at a local and regional level, and through liaison
and negotiation with key NSW government departments and agencies. This may include
travel outside the City and attendance outside normal work hours.
