Job Title: Legal Counsel
Legal counsel plays a crucial role in supporting the business with accurate and effective legal advice, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide sales & pre-sales contract support, including drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating general and complex commercial contracts.
* Offer legal support to bids and tender teams by reviewing bid contracts, drafting departures, and providing contract advice.
* Assist global legal functions in sales and contract negotiations with international reach.
* Prepare, review, and negotiate partner, supplier, and reseller contracts.
* Deliver training to various business departments on relevant legal issues.
* Be a trusted partner and source of information for the business.
* Participate in legal operations, process improvement, and compliance projects.
* Contribute to developing and managing privacy and compliance programs.
* Stay up-to-date with changes to relevant legislation and regulatory landscapes impacting the business.
Requirements:
* Law degree from an Australian university, with the ability to practice in New South Wales or Queensland on an unrestricted practicing certificate.
* A minimum of 6 years' post-admission experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal position, with a background in commercial contracting and technology law.
* Candidates without technology experience will be considered if they have a strong commercial contracting background or professional services contracting, and an interest in technology.
* Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
* Detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple transactions and competing priorities.
* Ability to think strategically, weigh legal and business objectives, and provide practical advice.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Unquestionable integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
* Self-starter, collaborative team player, good judgment, and creativity.
