Structural Manager
EDGE Consulting Engineers
Lead Structures. Lead People. Live Well.
Build influence. Shape a high-performing team. Enjoy the Sunshine Coast lifestyle — without compromising your career trajectory.
-----------------------------------
The Opportunity
EDGE Consulting Engineers is an Australian-owned Structural and Civil Engineering consultancy experiencing strong national growth across Queensland, ACT, and Australia-wide, with select international exposure.
We are seeking an experienced Structural Manager to lead our Sunshine Coast (Maroochydore) structural team.
This is a genuine senior leadership role — responsible for people, performance, technical excellence, and business outcomes — with the autonomy and influence to shape the future of the office.
If you're currently navigating congestion, corporate layers, or relentless utilisation pressure — and you're ready for leadership with balance — this role offers a different pace without sacrificing impact.
-----------------------------------
Why EDGE
At EDGE, leadership is built on trust, accountability, and performance — not hierarchy.
As Structural Manager, you will:
* Lead and grow the Sunshine Coast structural function
* Own team performance, delivery standards, and culture
* Influence strategy through direct access to Directors
* Drive financial performance and sustainable growth
* Shape recruitment, succession, and long-term capability
You'll operate within a nationally connected business supported by strong QA systems, operational frameworks, and cross-office collaboration.
This is leadership with backing — not leadership in isolation.
-----------------------------------
Lifestyle Without Compromise
Based in Maroochydore, you'll enjoy:
* Short commutes and genuine work–life balance
* Beach, cafés, and schools minutes from the office
* A relaxed coastal environment without sacrificing project calibre
* A community designed for long-term living
Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
-----------------------------------
The Role
Reporting to the Directors, you will lead the day-to-day operation and strategic direction of the Sunshine Coast structural team.
Your focus will span:
Leadership & Culture
* Develop and mentor Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Graduates
* Drive accountability, engagement, and high performance
* Lead performance and remuneration reviews
* Support recruitment and succession planning
Technical Oversight
* Maintain oversight of complex structural building projects
* Ensure QA standards and technical excellence are upheld
* Provide senior review and guidance on high-risk or high-value work
Commercial & Operational Performance
* Manage financial targets and team profitability
* Forecast workload, resourcing, and staffing requirements
* Contribute to fee proposals and commercial strategy
* Report performance metrics to Directors
Client & Growth
* Maintain and strengthen key client relationships
* Represent EDGE in industry forums and stakeholder meetings
* Support long-term business development and continuity
You will remain technically credible — while leading strategically.
-----------------------------------
About You
You are a leader first, structural engineer always.
You bring:
* Degree qualification in Structural Engineering
* 10+ years' experience within consulting
* Proven leadership as a Structural Manager, Team Lead, or Senior Associate
* Demonstrated experience managing structural engineering teams
* Strong knowledge of Australian building structures
* Commercial awareness and financial acumen
* Confident client-facing capability
* Chartered (or near Chartered) status with Engineers Australia
Most importantly, you are motivated to build something enduring — not simply manage the status quo.
-----------------------------------
The Offer
* Senior leadership position
* Genuine autonomy and influence
* Australia-wide search
* Relocation assistance available
* Salary package: $170K – $220K (DOE)
