Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

About the Role

A School Administrative Officer provides administrative, financial and student welfare/wellbeing support and assistance in relation to office and classroom activities, including but not limited to the following school settings: the office, sick bay, library, science laboratory, and food technology/kitchen areas.

Essential Requirements

* Working with Children Check Clearance
* First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.
* Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Gosford East Public School is located 3km south west of Gosford and acknowledges the Darkinjung people as current custodians of the land that our children and staff learn on, each school day. We are proudly part of the Tjudibaring Aboriginal Education Consultancy Group (AECG) and the Erina Learning Community. The school community has high expectations for student learning and positive wellbeing and is very supportive and inclusive. The current 2026 enrolment is 340 students with 51 students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander (15%) and 19% of students who come from an English as an Additional Language (EALD) background. A dedicated team of staff work together to maximise educational outcomes for all students in our 13 mainstream classes and 3 support classes.

At Gosford East Public School, students are valued as individuals and staff are committed to providing quality teaching and learning experiences and offer a wide range of extracurricular activities for students such as 'Livin Deadly' Cultural Groups, sporting teams, dance ensembles, training and concert band, SRC and a Gardening Club. The school receives additional funding for equity programs and implements initiatives focusing on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes and positive student well-being. The school ensures it is equipped with learning opportunities such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and Explicit Teaching strategies across the school.

The school P&C works closely with the school to enhance the learning opportunities for all students. It actively supports existing programs, in addition to running the school canteen and uniform shop.

Specific Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
* Administration skills including a knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to meet deadlines.
* Ability to work with teachers and students.
* Ability to perform tasks in one or more of the following areas: office procedures; accounting procedures; sick bay; hospitality and /or design and technology; science.
