Job Description:
This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of education and cultural exchange.
We are seeking an experienced professional with a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultures and experiences to take on the role of Principal Consultant for our Two-way Science Initiative.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing culturally responsive teaching and learning programs that connect Western Australian science curriculum to Aboriginal knowledges.
This involves working closely with schools, communities, and stakeholders to build partnerships and develop place-based learning programs that respect and value local knowledge and traditions.
The role requires strong project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
A key aspect of this role is building relationships with Aboriginal school communities and other key stakeholders to support the development of culturally responsive practices and contribute to the creation of learning programs that promote cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To lead the development and implementation of the Department's Two-way Science Initiative.
2. To work collaboratively with schools, communities, and stakeholders to develop place-based culturally responsive teaching and learning programs.
3. To build effective working relationships with Aboriginal school communities and other key stakeholders to support the development of culturally responsive practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess:
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of policies, frameworks, and issues impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* High-level project management skills with a proven ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate culturally responsive initiatives in a complex environment.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build mutually respectful relationships and partnerships with Aboriginal communities, organisations, and stakeholders.
