Job Description

Major Component Upgrade Lead Technician responsible for leading and assuring that assigned Major Component Upgrade (MCU) operations are executed according to GE’s priorities SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost). The role ensures EHS compliance, execution quality, delivery on time, and cost optimization to meet customer expectations. The Lead Technician manages the complete operation, interfaces with all parties involved, and champions continuous improvement initiatives.

- Lead at site and take responsibility for each assigned Major Component Exchange operation through preparation, coordination, execution, and reporting.
- Guide all parties involved in MCU execution to achieve the highest EHS, quality and cost standards; act as technical advisor to stakeholders.
- Ensure all workers, including contractors, have proper qualifications and documentation and perform tasks to the highest standards.
- Partner with MCU PM, GE Service Teams, Contractors, and other functions to deliver best‑in‑class MCU execution and handle unexpected events.
- Proactively identify and address potential unplanned situations to keep the execution on track.
- Manage required documentation and internal reporting.
- Identify improvement ideas in SQDC and collaborate on developing new tools and methodologies to enhance safety and efficiency.
- Review and provide feedback on MCU Work Instructions (WDI’s); support Methods & Process team during creation or update of WDI related to MCU.
- Comply with statutory and GE internal EHS requirements.
- Operate the required WTG for MCU purposes as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

- At least 3 years of experience leading crane operations in end‑to‑end execution.
- At least 3 years of experience within the Wind Maintenance sector or other energy/industrial segments.
- Demonstrated high safety and quality mindset.
- Flexibility to travel (>85%) domestically and abroad; ability to adjust working hours to operational windows.
- Fluency in English and another European language.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills in a dynamic, complex matrix setting.
- High degree of site leadership with safety and quality awareness; excellent at anticipating and remedying issues.
- Able to work at heights and with a high level of physical fitness.
- Familiar with wind turbine generator mechanical/electrical areas.
- Proficient in MS Office and GE software tools.
- Ability to work independently.
- Class B driving license and AU work permit required.
