Position Information
NSW School of Languages is a Distance Education High School offering 12 languages to 2600 students, supported by over 100 language teachers. The school is located at 35 West St, Petersham. Further information about the school is available at

General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
* Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
* Demonstrated capacity to lead the Wellbeing team, implement wellbeing initiatives to improve the experience for students in a Distance Education school.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build authentic connections with students, home school supervisors, parents, community and external agencies to develop a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports a diverse student community.
* Proven capacity to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate whole school wellbeing programs, including analysis of data, to support students' progression and wellbeing and to inform Strategic Improvement Plan initiatives.
* Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement programs that support, promote, and enhance a high standard of educational attainment, engagement, attendance, progression, retention and wellbeing for a diverse range of students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
