In your new role you will work closely with the Clinical Director and senior medical team to support the effective and efficient delivery of high‑quality paediatric services across the Hospital and Health Service.

The Paediatric Department at Cairns Hospital delivers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to infants, children and adolescents across Far North Queensland. As a major regional referral service, the department provides high‑quality, family‑centred care within a multidisciplinary team, supporting a diverse population across metropolitan, rural and remote communities.

About your role:
* Conduct daily and regular review of all patients in Paediatric Wards and Special Care Baby Unit, and patients awaiting paediatric consultation in the Emergency Department and Specialist Outpatient clinics.
* Under the supervision of the relevant Specialists, initiate, maintain and be responsible for the clinical care of children and young people in the inpatient areas of Paediatrics, Adolescent ward, Birth suite, maternity and the Special Care Nursery, children in Emergency Department and specialist outpatients.
* To ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for patients with an appropriate signed and dated legible entry in the patient's medical record on every attendance upon a patient.
* Maintain good communications with all areas and disciplines within the health service and with local medical practitioners to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the hospital.
* Ensure and review the quality of patient care by participation in clinical audits and quality programs.
