Field Technician – Compliance Metering

Role Purpose
This role has been created to support Goanna Ag's field operations following the award of major telemetry uplift contracts.
The Compliance Metering Field Technician is responsible for the on-farm installation, commissioning, and support of telemetry and compliance metering systems, working closely with irrigators to help them meet their regulatory obligations while delivering a positive, professional customer experience.
The role is predominantly field-based, involving outdoor work, independent decision-making, and regular regional travel.

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Delivery
* Install, commission, and test telemetry and compliance metering devices on-farm
* Conduct site assessments to ensure correct placement and configuration of equipment
* Troubleshoot installation issues promptly and accurately, minimising rework
* Ensure all installations meet Goanna Ag quality standards and regulatory requirements
* Complete required job documentation, photos, and system records accurately and on time
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement
* Act as a professional, trusted on-site representative of Goanna Ag
* Work directly with irrigators to explain system functionality and compliance outcomes
* Provide practical guidance and reassurance to customers unfamiliar with telemetry systems
* Escalate technical or customer issues appropriately while maintaining strong relationships
Safety, Travel & Independence
* Work safely and effectively in remote, outdoor environments, often alone
* Manage regional travel schedules, including regular overnight stays
* Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and site-specific requirements
Team & Operational Support
* Coordinate with the broader Field Services team to plan and deliver work programs
* Provide feedback from the field to improve processes, tools, and customer experience
* Support continuous improvement in deployment efficiency and service quality

What Success Looks Like (12–18 Months)
* Telemetry and compliance devices deployed accurately, efficiently, and at scale
* Minimal rework required due to strong attention to detail and correct first-time installs
* Positive feedback from irrigators regarding professionalism and clarity of support
* Prompt identification and resolution of field issues
* Strong personal safety record and adherence to Goanna Ag standards

Skills & Experience (Required)
* Experience working in field-based, operational roles (agriculture, utilities, mining, construction, or similar)
* Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions and remote locations
* Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical systems
* High level of independence, reliability, and self-management
* Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
* Good communication skills and a practical, customer-focused mindset
* Current driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively
