Where You'll Be Working

The Inpatient Psychology Department provides services across three hospital sites: Calvary Mater Mental Health Centre at Waratah, the Intermediate Stay Mental Health Unit (ISMHU) at Newcastle West, and Morisset Hospital, a specialist rehabilitation service in Morisset caring for both civilian and forensic patients. All services are dedicated to adult mental health inpatient care.

The Inpatient Psychology Department is a dynamic team of psychologists providing high‑quality care across these three sites. We value collaboration and professional growth, and you will be part of a supportive, close‑knit group that fosters a positive and inclusive workplace.

This is a part‑time, permanent position based at Morisset Hospital. Morisset Hospital is scheduled to relocate to a new, purpose‑built facility in Maitland in 2027, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of rehabilitation services.


About the Role

In this position, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based psychological services to consumers within a multidisciplinary team environment. The role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful and rewarding care to individuals with complex mental health needs. Working within the context of a psychiatric rehabilitation service you will provide trauma‑informed psychological assessment, formulation, and interventions aimed at supporting individuals' rehabilitation and recovery‑orientated goals. This will include the delivery of both individual and group‑based interventions.

The position provides access to ongoing training and professional development, with particular emphasis on mental health rehabilitation. The position is supported by a team of psychologists within the Inpatient Psychology Department, in addition to the on‑site multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

* For Clinical Psychologists: Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology Masters or equivalent qualification of no less than two years full time duration, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
* For Senior Psychologists: a minimum of one year at the 9th year of service on the general psychology pay scale, in addition to significant breadth and depth of experience in psychological methods and the provision of psychological services; including provision of extensive clinical supervision.
