Lake St Clair Lodge currently offers a fully organic cafe and restaurant. We are developing an organic permaculture farm located nearby and could use a little help.
**The Position**
We are seeking enthusiastic and optimistic individuals to join our team as a Permaculture Hands.
- Note: As organic permaculture farming is seasonal duties will vary according to the season._
Seasonal duties as a Permaculture Hand may include:
- preparing sites and plots using hand tools and equipment
- nurturing and cultivating soil for plant growth
- making fertiliser using garden and animal waste from the site
- cultivating, fertilising, nurturing and harvesting vegetables, medicinal plants and other crops
- assisting with propogating and transplanting native trees and organic permaculture plants
- tending plants / crops / vines by watering, thinning, raking, weeding, hoeing, and trimming / pruning as directed
- colocating plants to enable natural fungicide and herbicide protection for all plants (where some plants may not be faring as well)
- mínimal use of organic environmentally friendly products where plants need a little help along
- tidying work areas and removing rubbish
- assistance with irrigation, shade structure, temperature control etc.
- selecting and picking produce according to sie and ripeness
- sorting produce into containers
In addition you will need to adhere to princples of organic produce production.
As we are a small seasonal business, assisting in other areas from time to time may be required.

Lake St Clair Lodge is located in central Tasmania, approximately 2 hours from Hobart. Located on the shores of Australias deepest lake inside the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, the property has a long history and is an ideal stop for day travellers to/from the west coast, as well as weekend or overnight escapes for couples and families.
Due to our location, this role would not be suitable for anyone with school aged children. Having your own car would also be an asset to your enjoyment and living within this globally significant area.
