RJ Custom Joinery is a family‑run business that crafts high‑quality timber windows and doors. With over 20 years of experience, we partner with each client on every detail—from timber, glass, and hardware selection to frame style and design specifics.
THE ROLE – OUR FIRST FULL‑TIME JOINER
We are hiring our very first full‑time joiner. This is a unique chance to shape the core of our production team from the ground up, establishing standards and processes that will define future hires. You will create one‑of‑a‑kind timber frames from rough‑sawn stock to completed, glazed units that meet our exacting standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Craftsmanship: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble timber components to exact tolerances.
* Machinery Operation: Operate precision equipment (saws, planer, thicknesser, spindle moulder, routers, sanders, hand tools) while preserving exceptional quality.
* Production Collaboration: Follow detailed production paperwork and work closely with the Production Manager and any future teammates to ensure each component matches the specified dimensions, hardware selections, and finish requirements.
* Workshop Standards: Keep the shop clean, safe, and compliant with all regulatory requirements.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* Minimum 3 years high‑end joinery, cabinet making, or wood‑machining experience (more is better).
* Mastery of both traditional hand tools and modern equipment; CNC experience is a strong plus.
* Exceptional eye for detail and a genuine passion for handcrafted quality.
* Deep knowledge of timber species, hardware options, and long‑term performance.
* Ability to solve complex fabrication challenges independently or within a small team.
* Design sensibility – appreciation for contemporary and heritage architecture.
* Current driver's licence and legal Australian work rights.
