Portfolio lead – nature-linked loans

Launceston
Wedgetail
Posted: 26 March
Offer description

Wedgetail aims to fundamentally change the systems through which we value nature, by backing the people and ideas bold enough to reimagine how nature, economies and communities thrive together.

We invest in projects that regenerate ecosystems, strengthen communities and reshape financial systems. From rainforest corridors to regenerative farms, our work demonstrates what's possible when finance works for nature and people.

Role purpose

Wedgetail deploys capital across a range of regenerative finance products, including nature-linked loans, equity investments, grants, blended finance and other innovative capital structures.

Our nature-linked loans provide flexible debt capital to businesses, with financial terms linked to outcomes for ecosystems and communities. These loan partners are primarily agricultural businesses working closely with communities and smallholder farmers to improve biodiversity, livelihoods and land stewardship.

We are seeking a Portfolio Lead to help scale our nature-linked loans and support the broader growth of Wedgetail Ventures. This role is the primary operator of the portfolio, responsible for running investments end to end – from pipeline and due diligence through structuring, deployment, monitoring and renewal. It is highly relationship driven and requires comfort working in complex, real world operating contexts across cultures and geographies. This role is for someone who believes finance can be a tool for regeneration.

Key responsibilities Portfolio and relationship management

* Structure debt facilities including pricing, tenor, repayment mechanics and security, working with internal and external specialists where appropriate.
* Prepare and present investment committee papers.
* Work with legal counsel to draft and negotiate documentation.
* Monitor loan performance and compliance, working with finance teams to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
Impact integration
* Work with the Head of Impact to embed regenerative milestones into loan partnerships.
* Ensure nature outcomes remain central to the program.
* Support partners in delivering biodiversity and livelihood outcomes.
* Monitor and report on loan performance (finance and impact).
Program development
* Help refine and improve the nature-linked loan model and identify operational and strategic improvements as the program grows.
* Contribute to the design and evaluation of future investment products and blended capital structures.
