The Northcott Early Childhood team in Coffs Harbour offers a full-time position until 30 June 2025, with the possibility of an extension. About Northcott:
Northcott is an Early Childhood partner contracted to deliver the NDIS Early Childhood Approach (ECA) service to local communities in Northern NSW, Mid North Coast, Hunter New England, Northern Sydney, and Western Sydney.
Key Responsibilities:
The First Nations Community Coordinator will be responsible for:
* Working with First Nations children with disabilities and developmental delays and their families to determine the best supports for their improved independence, social participation, and quality of life.
* Connecting with the local community to build networks and pathways that create inclusion opportunities for First Nations children with disabilities and their families to access Early Childhood Services.
* Promoting a culturally safe work environment and collaborating with local community and mainstream services.
Requirements:
* Being an Australian First Nations person is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under the Anti-Discrimination Act section 14D.
* Experience engaging with First Nations people to understand their needs and experience providing support to First Nations families.
* Knowledge of developmental milestones for children aged 0-9 years, as well as the impact of disability and developmental delay on a First Nations child and their family.
* A strong understanding of typical childhood development and the principles of Keep Them Safe.
* Tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood or an Allied Health profession.
* A reference from an Aboriginal Organisation, Corporation or Community Elders Group.
* Confirmation of Aboriginality with common seal.
* Current Driver's Licence - P1 minimum.
* Valid Working with Children's Check Clearance – mandatory.
* Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS WC) or willingness to obtain – mandatory.
* Working Rights in Australia for Full-Time Employment.
* Successful pre-employment probity check.
