Key Responsibilities

The Australian Electoral Commissioner serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the electoral agency and is the head responsible for governance, leadership, management and strategic direction.

Primary functions include conducting federal parliamentary elections, managing the Commonwealth electoral roll, providing electoral information and education services.

The successful candidate will be accountable for implementing governance mechanisms and developing strong leadership within the agency in accordance with statutory duties.


Accountable Authority Duties

The Electoral Commissioner holds significant responsibilities under the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013. These duties include proper management and utilisation of resources and development of governance structures.


Engagement and Representation

The successful candidate will represent the agency on various committees and forums, including the Electoral Council of Australia and New Zealand, fostering strong relationships and collaborations.
