Cook (with basic deckhand duties) – FV Yasmin
Established in 1972, Stehr Group is recognised as one of Australia's leading seafood companies, specialising in the offshore ranching and grow-out of Southern Bluefin Tuna.
Based in Port Lincoln, Australian Tuna Fisheries / Stehr Group are seeking a skilled Cook to join the crew of the FV Yasmin for the upcoming tuna catching season.
The Role:
This is primarily a cook position, preparing meals for the crew while supporting general vessel operations with basic deckhand duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Plan and prepare meals for crew members at sea
* Cook a variety of meals for up to 10 personnel
* Manage galley inventory, provisions and cleanliness
* Work with the crew to meet dietary preferences and restrictions
Deckhand Duties Include:
* General vessel upkeep and cleaning
* Assisting with tuna catching and towing operations
* Operating tender vessels and capstans
* Basic net repairs
* Supporting safe vessel operations as required
Prerequisites:
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work collaboratively in a tight-knit crew
* Experience as a cook on a fishing vessel or in a commercial kitchen (preferred)
* Availability for tuna fishing and towing operations at sea
* A pre-employment medical is required prior to commencement
Remuneration:
A remuneration package will be offered based on skills, experience and qualifications.
