Overview

Our client is Australia's most respected and successful privately-owned business engaged in property investment and development, the Perron Group. Through a thoughtfully developed and executed investment strategy over the last 40 years, they have built one of the country's most enviable portfolios that covers retail, commercial, and residential property, as well as being the Toyota state franchise owner and investments in equities, infrastructure, and mining royalties. Their residential land subdivision investments see them active across approximately 8000 lots under their control in WA and Queensland.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a self‑motivated and proactive Community Development Officer to be a part of activating a Community Neighbourhood Plan and assist with future community strategies which contribute to the development of an inclusive and connected residential neighbourhood. The project is Lake Treeby located in Treeby in Perth's southern suburbs. Ultimately, the estate will comprise 1060 lots of which 625 lots have sold with 450 homes built or under construction.

The underlying vision of Lake Treeby is to create a place that enhances the health and wellbeing of its residents through thoughtful design and community initiatives. This role plays a key part in fostering a welcoming, culturally diverse community where neighbours connect with one another. By encouraging relationships and support networks, the Community Development Officer should help residents feel connected, supported, and truly at home. At its very core, the primary goal is simply to help the local community to get to know one another and create an inclusive and connected residential neighbourhood.

This role will see you as the primary point of contact for all aspects of community development, taking responsibility for managing the planning and delivery of community-based events, building relationships with buyers/residents, and managing the approved budgets for the project.

Key Functions

* Plan, develop, implement and help to evaluate a variety of agreed community initiatives, programs and events at Lake Treeby that align with a diverse multicultural community and our health and wellbeing vision.
* Be the primary point of contact for general resident queries and all aspects of community development.
* Investigate and secure external funding through grants and/or sponsorship where possible.
* Manage and coordinate the distribution of sponsorship funds to community groups on a biannual basis.
* Work with the Marketing consultant to help promote Community events and activities on social media, e-newsletters and occasionally event signage.
* Help to build local community groups and enable the local community to manage these groups independently.
* Actively manage and promote an online consent program to help connect direct neighbours.
* Build networks and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders to encourage a coordinated and integrated approach to community initiatives, programs and events (including City of Cockburn, local schools, local community groups and potential funding bodies).
* Monitor, review and report on all community development activity monthly, or as required.
* Monitor and manage the Community Development Budget and expenditure monthly.
* Work collaboratively with the Project Team to generate or fine tune initiatives, activities and events and update the annual Community Development Plan.
* Engage Lake Treeby residents, seek input and encourage discussion on community development strategies when required.

Skills & Experience

* University degree in Marketing, Communications, PR or a relatable field.
* Experience in community development and working with community groups and organisations.
* Project/event management experience, including supplier management and budget management.
* Experience liaising on a professional basis with local government, not-for-profit and/or community groups.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
* Networking, creating partnerships and relationship building.
* Experience in successfully applying for funding/grants.
* Experience in negotiating and evaluating sponsorship proposals.
* Social media content creation, administration and moderation.
* Experience in Mailchimp and/or general database management and creation of eDMs.
* Excellent communication skills, report writing and public speaking.
* Proficiency with the MS Office suite of products and web-based applications; Adobe Acrobat or Canva.
* Experience in e-newsletter content creation.
* A current Driver's Licence (essential) and First Aid/CPR qualification and Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance (essential).
* A passion to help continue to build a young community.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build on the work done to date to grow the local community at Lake Treeby, which has a diverse culture and a focus on health and wellbeing. To be successful you will be able to obtain a clear police clearance. You will be a fast learner, able to think on your feet and able to build rapport with stakeholders. The successful applicant will be engaged as an independent consultant, not an employee.
