Work Permit Officer (Technical) (90M0676957) Bankstown, Sydney, AustraliaSalary: AUD47.54 - AUD52.87 per hour + superPaying $47.54-52.87ph + super6 month contract assignment with potential for extensionBankstown NSW locationAbout the RoleWe are currently working with a well-known local council organisation who are seeking a Work Permit Officer to come in and work with their team in the Bankstown NSW area on a 6 month contract assignment with potential for extension.Candidates for this position must have demonstrated experience in the design, construction and restoration of Council infrastructure such as roads, drainage and traffic, coupled with Civil Engineering related TAFE Certificate/Diploma with a minimum of 3yrs related experience or a Civil Engineering University DegreeAs a Work Permit Officer you will Undertake approvals and construction inspections for road reserve work and stormwater connections under the Road Act and the Local Government Act, in accordance with Council's Engineering Standards, relevant technical specifications and policies.Key responsibilities will include:Inspections and Assessments : This includes conducting pre- and post-construction inspections for damage to footways and road reserves, and assessing and approving designs for vehicular footway crossings, footpaving, road pavements, and kerb and gutter construction.
It also covers monitoring construction sites to protect Council infrastructure assets.Permit and Approval Issuance : This involves issuing various permits, such as Road Opening Permits, Standing Plant/Crane/Concrete Pump Permits, and Hoarding Permits.
It also includes approving stormwater connections to Council's drainage system and other civil works within Council's roads and reserves related to private developments.Compliance and Coordination : This entails ensuring approved Traffic Control Plans are in place for safety, following up on builder's damage to arrange cost recovery, and coordinating with and providing information to Council's Risk Management team for legal claims.
Additionally, it involves consulting with Council's Landscape Architects for specific projects.Stakeholder Liaison : This refers to the role of liaising with a variety of parties, including applicants, builders, developers, private certifiers, ratepayers, Public Utility Authorities, and government agencies.About YouYou will be an experienced Work Permit Officer with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:Civil Engineering related TAFE Certificate/Diploma with a minimum of 3yrs related experience or a Civil Engineering University DegreeCurrent Class C Drivers LicenceDemonstrated experience in the design, construction and restoration of Council infrastructure such as roads, drainage and trafficDemonstrated extensive experience in concrete construction such as vehicular crossings, footpaving and kerb and gutterDemonstrated knowledge of erosion and sediment control for construction sitesDemonstrated knowledge of traffic management and traffic control around construction sitesDemonstrated basic knowledge of stormwater hydraulicsDemonstrated preparation of basic construction plans using AutoCADDemonstrated knowledge on how to set up and use surveying equipment such as an automatic levelWhat's in it for you?
