About the Role
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting our client base with senior‐level support issues, IT project, and presales activities. This role is a customer focused technical role that requires identification of opportunities and technical delivery of projects to help our client reach technological and maintain maturity, as well as being an escalation resource for the Support Team.
General Responsibilities
* Advanced Technical Support: Provide expert‐level troubleshooting for end‐users facing complex technical issues across hardware, software, networks, and IT systems, including advanced server and network infrastructure problems
* Incident Management: Lead the management and resolution of high‐priority IT incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long‐term solutions to prevent recurrence, ensuring adherence to predefined service level agreements (SLAs).
* Project Delivery: Lead the scoping and implementation of projects, determining best fit solutions and seeing them through to delivery.
* Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain and enhance comprehensive documentation of IT systems, procedures, and configurations, and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning among the support team.
* Mentoring and Training: Provide mentorship to Level 1 and Level 2 support engineers, conduct technical training sessions, and ensure the team adheres to IT best practices, security protocols, and industry standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by staying ahead of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices.
Technical Requirements
* Design, implement, and support Microsoft products and services: Microsoft 365, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, Azure, Windows Server
* Design and implement secure networking solutions: WAN and LAN connectivity, firewalling, switching and routing. Including monitoring and configurating backups.
* Demonstratable programmability and automation expertise: PowerShell, Python, Power Query, Power Automate, Azure Logic Apps, Git, and Ansible.
* Familiar with web security, IAM, and ETL workflows: HTTP, REST APIs, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, Power BI, Grafana.
* Implement, maintain, and document DR environments: StorageCraft and Cloud Backup solutions
* Design, implement, and support cloud solutions.
* Support virtualization technologies: Hyper‐V.
* Support remote access solutions: VPN, Remote Desktop.
* Ability to remediate security related incidents and vulnerabilities in a Microsoft environment.
* Ability to create straight forward technical documentation.
Certifications
* AZ‐104/AZ‐305 or higher
* AZ‐500/SC‐200 or higher
* MD‐102/MS‐102 or higher
Success Criteria
* Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
* Experience in a Microsoft Systems or Support Engineer role.
* Expert understanding of core technologies such as Microsoft Server, Microsoft 365, Cloud, Backup/Storage Systems, and Automation.
* A flexible, adaptable, and creative approach with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Logical thinker with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to work in a team environment or autonomously.
* Ability to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and contextual awareness.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient organisational and time management with an ability to meet and deliver to deadlines.
