As we continue to grow and evolve our digital platforms, we are seeking a hands-on Software Engineering Leader to guide our small but dedicated engineering team.
Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned software engineering professional with strong Delphi experience to lead technical development and strategy. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small team environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about building scalable, stable, and user-centric software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a small team of developers, fostering a collaborative culture
* Act as a hands-on contributor, actively participating in coding & troubleshooting
* Drive key technical decisions related to platform architecture, scalability, performance, and reliability.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical strategy with business goals.
* Define and implement software engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, and deployment.
* Recommend and monitor software metrics to ensure system health and continuous improvement.
* Stay current with industry trends and technologies to inform strategic planning.
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience in software engineering leadership roles.
* Strong proficiency in Delphi and related technologies.
* Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system scalability.
* Experience working in small teams and wearing multiple hats.
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and remotely within Australia.
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in healthcare, social services, or similar domains.
* Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern infrastructure tools.
* Exposure to other languages or frameworks (e.g., .NET, JavaScript) is beneficial.
Deliverables:
The successful candidate will help define, track and deliver key software metrics, such as:
* Code Quality: Static analysis scores, code coverage, and technical debt.
* Performance: Response times, throughput, and resource utilization.
* Reliability: Uptime, error rates, and incident frequency.
* User Engagement: Feature adoption, usage patterns, and feedback loops.
* Delivery Efficiency: Lead time for changes, deployment frequency, and change failure rate
