Exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a leading Australian business as a Senior Payroll Officer.
We're partnering with a well-established organisation in a complex, multi-entity environment to recruit an experienced Senior Payroll Officer for an initial 3–6 month contract.
This is a hands‐on role supporting a busy payroll function through a period of growth and transition, with a strong focus on EOFY, governance and process improvement.
The Role:
* End-to-end oversight across AU/NZ payroll (c.512 headcount, growing to ~560)
* Weekly NZ payroll, fortnightly AU payroll (award‐heavy) and monthly group payroll
* Heavy involvement in EOFY activities, reporting and payroll governance
* Partner closely with the Payroll Lead to support BAU and manage workload capacity
* Drive process improvements, streamline workflows and uplift payroll structure
* Stakeholder engagement across Payroll, HR and wider business
About You:
* Proven experience at a Senior Payroll level in a complex environment
* Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, with exposure to NZ payroll advantageous
* Experience working within award‐heavy industries (retail highly regarded)
* Exposure to workers' compensation/premium reporting preferred
* Systems experience with Dayforce or similar HRIS/payroll systems (nice to have)
* Proactive mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
* Strong communication skills and ability to partner across functions
