With license to see things through your way, and the option to split your time between office and home, RACV is where you'll make a difference.About the roleAs our Senior Media and Communications Advisor, you will be instrumental in protecting and elevating the RACV brand through strategic, compelling storytelling, both proactive and reactiveIn this role, you'll help shape and deliver impactful media and communications strategies that align with RACV's priorities and policy objectives.
You'll oversee day-to-day media operations, including managing media enquiries on a rotational roster, coordinating spokesperson briefings, nurturing strong relationships with journalists, and actively monitoring the media landscape to safeguard and strengthen RACV's reputation across Victoria and nationally.Come along for a new journeyYou'll be instrumental in ensuring our Corporate Communications team delivers exceptional service.
Here's a glimpse of what you'll be doing:Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors and media outletsAct as media liaison during communications campaigns and handle sensitive communications with guidanceMonitor media coverage and identify reputation risks for escalation and responseSupport the development of proactive communication plans and lead tactical response efforts during reputational issuesParticipate in the on-call media roster and coordinate responsesContribute to crisis response communications and liaise with senior leadershipContribute to media and communications strategies for different business lines across RACVCreate and execute tactical communications plans that support business objectives and improve member and customer engagementLead the creation of high-quality content and communication assets including key messages, media releases, internal communications, social media assets and video contentIdentify potential media spokespeople within RACV and coordinate training opportunitiesManage content development and ensure consistent messaging across assigned channelsMentor junior team members and provide guidance on communications best practicesCollaborate effectively within the communications team and contribute to team developmentSupport external consultant and agency coordination, ensuring quality deliveryTake ownership of specific projects and campaigns from conception to completionShare knowledge and expertise with team members to build collective capabilitiesWhat you'll need to be successful5 to 8+ years' experience in communications, media relations, or related field with proven leadership experienceBachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related fieldStrong strategic thinking and planning capabilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills with media interview experienceDemonstrated experience in crisis communications and reputation managementTeam management and mentoring experienceDeep understanding of media landscape, digital communications, and social media platformsExperience managing external agencies and vendor relationshipsStrong analytical skills and experience with communications measurement and reportingAbility to support on a rotational 24/7 media on call rosterThere's so much on offer when you join RACV with benefits includingOur flexible and informal work environment which helps bring balance between work and homeGenerous discounts on home and car insurance policies and RACV roadside careGreat discounts across all RACV resortsDiscounts from corporate partners that are updated monthlyOur differenceAt RACV, we believe that maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace is an important element in our continued success.
