About the Position
As the Technical Officer Roads & Infrastructure, you will:
Assess road reserve applications and public infrastructure requests
Support delivery of capital works projects and engineering assessments
Assist with event approvals and statutory road closure processes
Undertake asset inspections and contribute to infrastructure compliance
Provide input into budget preparation and project reporting
Support procurement, contractor management and safety compliance
Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and the public on infrastructure matters
Key Responsibilities Include
Conduct technical assessments of road use and infrastructure applications
Assist with planning, design, and oversight of capital works projects
Manage consultant and contractor engagement and performance
Ensure compliance with legislative and safety standards
Support internal teams in asset management and infrastructure planning
Prepare reports and maintain project and assessment records
Contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Skills and Experience Required
Behaviour aligned with the Shires HEART values
Experience with municipal infrastructure such as roads, footpaths, and drainage
Knowledge of engineering design, materials, and construction methods
Understanding of project planning, budgeting, and permits
Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project)
Current WA C Class Drivers Licence
Familiarity with local or state government infrastructure programs
Qualification's or experience in engineering or project management (desirable)
Knowledge of CAD/surveying tools and traffic management practices (advantageous)
Understanding of WHS requirements in civil works (advantageous)
