About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Domestic Violence Specialist to join our team at Orange Local Aboriginal Land Council. This part-time position (35hrs pw) will be based in Bathurst, NSW and will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence within the local Indigenous community.
What you'll be doing
1. Provide direct support and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence
2. Develop and implement safety plans to protect clients and their families
3. Collaborate with local support services to coordinate a holistic approach to domestic violence intervention
4. Conduct community education and awareness campaigns to prevent domestic violence
5. Maintain detailed case records and prepare reports as required
6. Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure they receive appropriate legal, financial and housing support
What we're looking for
1. Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work or a related field
2. Experience working in domestic violence support, crisis intervention or case management
3. Experience working with people with a disability
4. Strong understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and its impact on individuals and communities
5. Demonstrated ability to provide trauma-informed, culturally sensitive support to clients
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively
7. Proficient in maintaining confidential client records and preparing reports
8. Knowledge of local support services and referral pathways
9. Current driver's license and willingness to travel within the local area
