About the Role
Yarrabee is a Cardiology Department that consists of 6 Coronary Care beds, 5 sub-acute Coronary Care beds and 15 mixed medical Cardiology, renal and endocrine beds. We look after a wide variety of patient types including those on BIPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Vasoactive medications, Cardiac Pacing and Exercise Stress Tests. We provide an environment that allows for development through the medical ward to the Coronary Care unit. Yarrabee has 11 beds hardwired for haemodynamic monitoring and 16 mobile telemetry units. The nursing team is supported by a Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Educator and a Cardiac Assessment Nurse.
What You'll Be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Educator provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. This includes orientation and/or transition for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses, and meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff. The Clinical Nurse Educator also provides clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
Selection Criteria
* Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
* Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification or 3 years clinical experience in the field.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles).
* Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment.
* Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems.
