Certifications/Licenses:
* Must obtain a food handlers certificate within 45 days of hire (Hylan Shelter only).
* Valid NYS Driver's License preferred.

About the Role
The Unit Counselor supports residents by providing care, support, socialization, crisis intervention, and facility monitoring across shelter programs.
Primary Responsibilities
* Participate in or conduct orientation for new residents.
* Communicate program processes and activities to residents.
* Provide social support and motivational interviewing interventions.
* Provide transportation for residents to appointments as needed.
* Assist with meal-related activities including warming, serving, and cleanup.
* Document neighborhood activities and resident interactions.
* Participate in crisis intervention as needed.
* Attend management, supervision, and required training meetings.
* Report serious incidents and complete required incident documentation.
* Conduct hourly rounds and ensure resident wellbeing.
* Arrive to work on time and as scheduled.
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
