A leading cyber security provider in Sydney is hiring a Principal SOC Engineer to take ownership of their Network Security capability at the top of their SOC function. This is the senior leadership end of the team, where you’ll combine hands on depth with strategic influence and coaching. What You’ll Do
Operate as the technical and strategic lead for Network Security within the SOC stream. You’ll guide solution direction, uplift capability, and support junior engineers while driving high impact outcomes for a wide range of enterprise customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide deep expertise across core domains such as Next Generation Firewalls, Secure Service Edge, Secure Web Gateways, Netscaler, and enterprise proxy technologies.
- Lead and mentor engineers, set technical standards, and drive capability uplift across the SOC.
- Own the design and delivery of network security solutions across on prem, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, guiding solution direction and technical decision making.
- Collaborate across internal security and engineering teams to ensure alignment, resilience, and cohesive security outcomes.
- Apply strong network security knowledge, including Web Application Firewalls and CDN technologies, to solve complex client challenges.
What You Bring
- More than ten years of experience across Networking and Network Security, ideally with progression into senior or leadership positions.
- Experience with Netscaler and enterprise proxies.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience within a SOC or Network Security team.
- Strong technical depth across enterprise network security technologies and modern security tooling.
- Experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud hosted firewalls across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of core security controls, the OSI model, TCP/IP fundamentals, and up-to-date network security architecture.
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible to automate the deployment and management of network security controls.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior technical and business leaders.
Nice To Have
- Certifications across NGFW, SSE, PAM, SASE, EPM, or WAF technologies.
- Additional exposure to application security tooling such as Web Application Firewalls or CDN platforms.
