The Opportunity
The opportunityWe are seeking financial crime junior analysts to join our newly formed Financial Crime Team. You will be assisting the firm in its compliance with its financial crime obligations, including:Undertaking AML/CDD checks and risk assessments for clients, including screening for sanctions, PEPs and other high-risk indicators.Undertaking matter risk assessment on matters & transactions.Assisting in the management of the firm's new business workflow, including the prioritisation and delegation of new business requests.Advising stakeholders within the firm on routine financial crime and CDD queries.Ensuring the AML/CDD client identification checks are completed in a timely manner and liaising with the matter team where necessary to obtain additional CDD information & documentation. The TeamNew Business Intake falls under the General Counsel & Risk function and we are responsible for the resolution of complex legal and commercial conflict problems globally. We play a key role in the development and shaping of firm strategy globally by liaising with Sector Lead Partners, Regional/Global Heads of Practice and Business Development to ensure that any new instructions are a commercial fit for the firm.Herbert Smith Freehills is proud to be awarded Law Firm of the Year, Australia (Chambers Asia Pacific Awards 2021), Most Innovative International Law Firm, Asia Pacific (Financial Times Awards 2019 & 2020) and Winner of the Minds Count Annual Award for Best Mental Wellbeing Initiative 2019. To be successful in this role, you will have:Candidates should have a degree ((law degree advantageous but not required).At least 9-12 months in a compliance role in a law firm or other regulated entity (financial crime experience desirable but not essential).Good awareness of the financial crime regulatory landscape and a desire to develop further in this area.Excellent research and analytical skills.Good commercial awareness.Ability to prioritise workload.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work autonomously and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously.Excellent verbal, written and face to face communication skills.Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.Ability to work well within a global team and support the Financial Crime Team in London.
