With exciting new projects and continued growth, they are now seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join their forward-thinking team. Based in either Perth or Melbourne, this workshop-focused role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to pioneering R&D initiatives while also supporting large-scale production, ensuring your work has both immediate impact and long-term influence.
The Role
This is more than just a design position it's a chance to drive technical excellence from concept through to delivery. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of creating, analysing, and refining multi-disciplinary designs that will push the boundaries of composite technologies. We're looking for someone who has built a strong foundation across a variety of engineering fields and who is eager to continue progressing into new industries and sectors within mechanical design.
What You'll Be Doing
* Drive product and system concepts through advanced CAD and CAE modelling.
* Carry out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate strength, performance, and safety.
* Manage design data, calculations, and project records using PLM tools.
* Provide input on material selection, equipment procurement, and cost assessments.
* Ensure compliance with functional, safety, and industry standards.
* Generate detailed engineering drawings and oversee prototype builds.
* Partner with engineers across disciplines to achieve seamless integration and delivery.
* Investigate, refine, and improve existing products through innovative solutions.
* Contribute to the testing and validation of designs to ensure durability and reliability.
What We're Looking For
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* At least 5 years' proven experience in mechanical design.
* High-level proficiency with CAD packages (SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA software.
* Solid understanding of thermodynamics, materials science, and mechanical principles.
* Hands-on experience with composites, CFD, and workshop prototyping is highly regarded.
* Background across multiple industries or project types, with a clear drive to broaden expertise into new sectors of mechanical design.
* Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communicator with a collaborative approach.
