INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well‑developed economy due to its solid agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as ‘The Food Bowl of Australia’ as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Support Officer – Building, Planning and Compliance

Salary: $73,089.64 per annum pro rata

Closing: Friday 28 November 2025

Part Time (16 hrs p/w) – Temporary (To 9 February 2028)

We are currently looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Support Officer to fill a temporary role with the Greater Shepparton City Council’s Building, Planning and Compliance Department.

Commencing in February 2026, this role will require you to work 2 days a week, on a Monday and Tuesday.

This role has a broad range of responsibilities, including:

- Providing prompt and efficient administrative support to the Building, Statutory Planning, Strategic Planning, and Compliance Teams within the Building and Planning Department.
- Maintaining accurate building, planning, local laws and parking enforcement related records and attending to a range of administrative support tasks in a detailed, friendly and efficient manner.
- Working effectively and efficiently in a flexible team environment to fulfil the administration, building, planning, local laws and parking enforcement and other support requirements of the department.
- Providing quality customer service to both internal and external customers.

Experience in office support and administration in local government or a related field, is desirable.

Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period. During the qualifying period employees will be provided with appropriate on‑going induction, support, assistance, resources and training to enable them to meet the required performance standards for the position.
