About The Role

Reporting to the Director Sustainability, Assets and Leisure, you will lead a broad and multidisciplinary department responsible for Council's sustainability agenda, asset management strategy and capital works delivery. You will provide clear strategic direction, strong operational leadership and a focus on delivery, while continuing to strengthen a positive, high‐performing and values‐driven team culture. As an enterprise leader you will work closely across Council and with external partners to ensure sustainability and asset decisions are embedded into everything we do.

Key Aspects Of The Role Include
* Leading the development and delivery of Council's sustainability, environmental stewardship and climate response initiatives
* Overseeing strategic asset management, lifecycle planning and the delivery of major capital works and renewals programmes
* Providing high‐level advice to the Executive, Councillors and governance committees on complex, sensitive and strategic matters
* Driving strong service performance, governance, risk management and continuous improvement across the portfolio
* Managing significant budgets, resources and business planning to ensure value for money and long‐term sustainability
* Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, government partners, contractors and the community
* Leading, coaching and developing senior leaders to build capability, accountability and a strong team culture
About You

You lead with clarity and empathy, empower your leaders to perform at their best, and create an environment where accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement thrive. You bring an enterprise mindset, balancing operational demands with long term strategic thinking, and are comfortable making complex decisions in a political and fast‐paced environment. With well developed critical thinking skills, you can navigate competing priorities while keeping a clear focus on outcomes for the organisation and community.

You Will Bring
* Demonstrated experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams within a complex or political environment
* A proven ability to strengthen team culture, build trust and inspire high performance
* Strong operational and strategic capability, with the ability to translate policy, strategy and legislation into tangible outcomes
* A delivery mindset, with experience overseeing significant programmes, projects, budgets and contracts
* Well developed critical thinking and problem solving skills, with sound judgement and emotional intelligence
* The ability to operate as an enterprise leader, collaborating across organisational boundaries for shared outcomes
* Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science, Project Management, Business or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
