About the Job
The role of Assistant Accountant plays a pivotal part in supporting the finance and administration team, ensuring accurate and compliant financial practices across all business units.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts Management
* Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and expense claims accurately and on time
* Manage vendor queries and resolve discrepancies promptly
* Maintain supplier records and ensure compliance with internal controls
* Review and issue customer invoices in accordance with contract terms
* Reconcile AR ledger and resolve account discrepancies
* Client Portal Management and keep portal data up to date to avoid payment delays
2. Financial Analysis
* Assist in developing financial budgets and forecasts
* Prepare monthly management accounts and analyse key business metrics
* Support cost control through subcontractor performance monitoring
* Recommend process improvements based on financial analysis
* Maintain accurate accounting procedures and controls
* Ensure adherence to financial, invoicing, and accounting practices across the business
* Conduct regular P&L and labour hours reviews with operations teams
3. Reporting and Compliance
* Deliver monthly management reporting within set deadlines
* Provide analysis on trends, revenue, costs, and expenditure
* Produce forecasts and budgets, and complete monthly/year-end reconciliations
* Monitor payroll compliance and liaise with subcontractors on agreed rates
4. Audit and Governance
* Support internal and external audit processes
* Maintain data integrity in finance systems
* Ensure compliance with corporate policy, legislation, and governance standards
